The Carrick Bend Knot comes from a basket weaving technique. In heraldry, it’s known as The Wake Knot or Ormonde Knot. The Elizabethan era plasterwork of Ormonde Castle in Carrick-on-Suir shows numerous carrick bends molded in relief. The name might also be inspired by Carrick Roads—a large natural anchorage by Falmouth in Cornwall, England. The name is also related to “carrack,” a medieval type of ship.
These hand-woven knots contain over 20 feet of nylon parachute cording yet they are exceptionally weightless.
The large version is approximately 3" long, the small measuring at about 2" long. Our findings are all nickel-free/ lead-free/ cadmium-free silver.
Please note that the estimated shipping timelines are in addition to the handmade-to-order lead time.
Most of my jewelry is shipped Priority Mail with tracking and insurance. If your item is lost or damaged by the postal service, I will file an insurance claim on your behalf. Once the claim has been settled (generally this takes 25-30 days), I will issue you a refund for your order. Please note that if the item is listed as delivered by the Postal Service, I am unable to file a claim and cannot refund your order. Priority Mail does not require a signature. Please contact me if you would like to add this service.
International Customers: Please be mindful of potential import taxes on your purchase, these are your responsibility. Check with your local postal service to determine any additional charges that may be levied on your purchase. In addition, I cannot falsify the value of the items on customs forms.
The best part about our earrings is that they are handmade and uniquely yours. They're sisters, not twins! Each knot is one-of-a-kind! Please store your earrings carefully as the rope can bend under duress. The earrings can be ironed or re-bent into a preferred shape, however.
It is my delight to make jewelry that smiles to faces and accentuates a woman's natural beauty! If you are dissatisfied with your purchase from Spare Drawer Designs, I accept returns within 5 days of the delivery date for a full refund of the purchase price less a 10% restocking fee and return shipping costs. If the item is blemished in any way, I claim full responsibility for any costs incurred.
Within 5-15 days after your purchase, you have the option to exchange your item for another or receive store credit for future purchases. The restocking fee applies and returns shipping is the customer's responsibility. After 15 days I do not accept returns or exchanges.
In the event that you do return your item, I recommend that you re-ship with tracking and insurance. Refunds and returns are issued only with the return of the item.
The majority of my jewelry is handmade-to-order. My current average production time is 3-5 days and I guarantee completion within 10 days. Please be mindful of the production process when placing your order. If you require a rush order, please contact me before making a purchase. Dependent upon the timeline and the number of items ordered, there is a modest premium to guarantee rush fulfillment. In this event, I shall build you a separate listing.
